At Tanner Steffler Foundation we believe in what we are doing.  We are not happy with the status quo and each day we get out of bed to make a difference to the youth of Huron County and their families.  We lead with passion, and believe without a doubt that youth struggling with mental health issues and substance use deserve compassion and treatment on-demand in order to belong and thrive.  


We are seeking a community-minded candidate who is passionate about youth mental health and substance use to help with growth-oriented business strategies and fundraising initiatives.



  • Assist with the planning, coordination and promotion of special events and fundraisers

  • Help Develop a planned giving program and a corporate giving program

  • Maximize the Foundation’s exposure through the website and use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube

  • Help create marketing materials such as appeal letters, newsletters and social media

  • Proactively research and develop fundraising opportunities through Corporate Engagement, community groups and partner organizations

  • Provide administrative support and other duties as assigned


This position is made available through the Canada Summer Jobs program and you will need to meet the following eligibility criteria to apply:

  • Be between the ages of 15-30 at start of employment;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and,

  • Have a valid social insurance number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.


Key Competencies & Qualifications

  • Must be a post-secondary graduate or enrolled in a post-secondary business, marketing or communications program with an interest in mental health, public relations and fundraising

  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work non-standard hours, including some evenings and weekends (when required for events)

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in business and/or communications

  • Experience in event planning and budget management

  • Access to personal transportation required


Skills & Experience

  • Superior oral and written communication skills, experience with proofreading and copyediting

  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills

  • Ability to effectively interact with donors, sponsors, volunteers, staff and the general public in a professional and courteous manner

  • Administration skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite

  • Ability to coordinate work activity, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Intuitive, self-starter, able to quickly learn about the Foundation, its current projects, the community we serve and future goals  


# of Hours:  32 hrs/wk   Compensation:  $16.00/hr   Start Date: June 3, 2019
