Past Community Events

Community engagement is at the root of our foundation. We pride ourselves on getting out and engaging with our community. Check out these past community events, held in support of our foundation.

Let’s Start The Conversation

December 12, 2023 - TSF staff had the honour of attending Let's Start The Conversation, a student-led event to promote fighting the stigma surrounding suicide and mental health. We enjoyed a bake sale and art show/sale, and Paulie O'Byrne of I'm 1in5 spoke to his lived experience, awareness, prevention, healing and the journey to recovery. At the end of the night over $1800 was raised for our Foundation!

WALTON RACEWAY 2023 - RIDE WITH ME

Ride With Me began and is held in memory of Jeff Ward, a beloved brother, son and father. On July 2, 2018 we lost Jeff to suicide. After Jeffs passing the Ward family founded Racing For Mental Wellness, a community dedicated to suicide awareness and ending the stigma around mental health. Ride With Me allows the motocross community, and all of us, to come together to raise money for mental health and addiction focused organizations.

Tanner Ward's "Ride with Me" charity campaign raised $14, 500 for the Tanner Steffler Foundation / CMHA in 2023.

Community Curator Exhibit at the Huron County Museum

February to December 2023 - On November 30th, it was time to say goodbye to our “Mental Health is a Journey” exhibit that was set up at the Huron County Museum. ith this exhibit, we asked members of our Youth Advisory Council and the Tanner Steffler Foundation Team to submit “artifacts” which work to represent their own unique, personal journeys with mental health. Along with these submitted artifacts are artifacts from the museums own collection, which help to represent just how far we have come with our understanding and treatment of mental health and addiction.

To celebrate this, we hosted a small event that consisted of a nighttime tour of the Huron Historic Gaol and a movie screening of the Barbie movie at the Huron County Museum. At the end, we all gathered around the exhibit to read it one last time, and took a couple of pictures as a group in front of it to commemorate this successful night.

Kadylack Farms Sunflower Walk

We visited Kadylack Farm Sunflower Walk and met with Diane DeJong, to talk about the amazing success of the walk and their decision to dedicate proceeds from the walk to groups working with mental health and many other areas.

Through the walk, Kadylack Farms have been able to support numerous local causes including Wellspring Stratford, Perth County Concussion Support Group, Mikey Network and Carter Schoonderwoerd Memorial Day, and our Foundation to name a few!

Mental Health Yoga with Jolt Fitness

February 15th 2024 - Jolt Fitness in Centralia hosted Mental Health Yoga with procceeds supporting the Foundation. Thank you to all who attended, and the Jolt Fitness team for hosting this yoga in support of the Foundation!

“Most people start a fitness routine for physical health. However, what we see long term is people stick with fitness because of the positive effects it has on their mental health. Most members are more shocked in how their outlook on life, energy, mood, decision making, drive and purpose changes by joining a fitness community. We’re keen to once again support the TSF!” -Coach Siggy
